Description
The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Veterinary Services in Ames, Iowa, has a requirement to replace a 112.5kVA, 13.8kV - 208Y/120V, 3-phase transformer with a 75kVA, 13.8kV - 208Y/120V, 3-phase transformer. The scope of work includes:
-
Adding a new spill containment concrete basin to the transformer location.

Removing existing transformer and properly dispose of the transformer and its fluids.

Testing the fluid in the existing transformer for PCBs and document the results and the disposal of the fluids and provide the USDA with a copy of the documentation.

Cleaning and removing any existing fluid and debris from the area around the existing transformer location before the new transformer and spill containment basin is installed.

That the contractor be responsible for all wiring connections, this includes disconnection of old transformer and re-connection of new one and relocation and reconnecting any grounding wires and ground loop systems around existing transformers.

Disposing of old transformer and any concrete debris by contractor in accordance with Federal, State, and local codes.

Ensuring that existing primary/secondary wiring is of sufficient length to accommodate the dead front configuration prior to submitting transformer submittal.

Ensuring that the footprint of the new transformer will fit properly and correctly on the new spill containment basin.

That new transformer shall be multi-tap for potential future connection to north campus 13.2kV.

That the contractor shall be responsible for temporary spill containment on new transformer if it is stored on campus prior to installation on new concrete spill containment basin and keep a written inspection record until transformer has been installed on new containment pad. This written record will be provided to the COR after the transformer is placed on the new spill containment basin.
The NAICS code for this project is 238210, with a small business size standard of $19 million, and the estimated magnitude is between $25,000 and $100,000. The project will be set aside for small business concerns only. The solicitation will be posted on or about Feb 7, 2024.
