Description Information: Version 2 - Due to inclement weather and closing of DHS offices, the Schedule of Events is updated as follows: Deadline for written questions Tuesday, September 19, 2017. Responses to Written Questions will be posted Thursday, September 21, 2017. The Request for Proposal will close Friday, September 29, 2017. The Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) is responsible for the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) support, protecting children, foster care and other services to strengthen families. DFCS investigates child abuse; finds foster homes for abused and neglected children; helps low income, out-of-work parents become productive citizens, to include assistance with childcare costs; and provides numerous support services and innovative programs to help at-risk families. At any given time, there are more than 350 children who are in the permanent custody of the State of Georgia without an identified adoptive resource. DFCS is committed to ensuring that every waiting child has a safe and loving home to call his/her own. DFCS's Permanency Unit is responsible for coordinating child specific recruitment for each child who does not have an identified adoptive resource. The Statewide Adoption Matching Meeting creates an opportunity to identify permanent homes for the children in the State of Georgia who are without an identified adoptive resource. The match meeting provides opportunities for waiting children to benefit from child-specific recruitment through engagement of workers for the children as well as unmatched families. The match meeting provides ongoing training for DFCS staff and private agency partners. Additionally, the meeting creates networking opportunities for DFCS staff and private agency partners.
