2. The following items were discussed during the pre-bid conference or questions were submitted after the completion of the conference:

Q1: The specifications called for a system with a battery back-up included. Isn’t this facility supported by an emergency back-up generator?
A1: Yes, the facility is supported by an emergency back-up generator. The request for a battery back-up for the security gate is to provide redundancy for its emergency operation.

Q2: Will the new gates need to be installed in the present location of the existing gates or may they be relocated closer together to make the pouring of the concrete for the new gate operator pads easier?
A2: The new gates may be relocated closer together as requested so long as the relocation does not require the recently installed camera system at the gates to need relocation.

Q3: It is my opinion that the requested DoorKing System is of a lighter weight more commonly used in residential or commercial applications. Would the County accept proposals for a more robust system that is typically used in high security applications?
A3: The product and specifications identified in the bid were offered as a minimum requirement for a system. Contractors are free to offer alternate products that they recommend as being of equal or better quality. If an alternate product is proposed, Contractor must provide full copies of the manufacturer’s technical specifications and warranty. This information should be documented under Section K. Exceptions to or Variations from Specifications. Additional pages and documents may be added to your response as necessary.

Q4: The bid specifications state that the existing wiring and conduit between the gate operators may be used for the new installation. If it is discovered that the existing wiring needs replacement, how are we to address that in our bid submittal?
A4: Contractor may offer optional or additional bid items. This information should be documented under Section K. Exceptions to or Variations from Specifications. Additional pages and documents may be added to your response as necessary. In the specific event of wiring replacement being required, Contractor should provide an additional, combined material and labor rate per linear foot of wiring.

Q5: The specifications did not address the existing intercom/card reader at the gate. Should the intercom/card reader be relocated as the new gates are being installed?
A5: The existing intercom/card reader post has been dislodged and will need to be reset. The Contractor should include the resetting or relocating of this equipment as an addition to their bid. Should the Contractor recommend the replacement of the existing electronics, the replacement equipment must provide equivalent functionality.

Q6: What is the format of the proximity cards used at this facility; HID, AWID, or other?
A6: This facility uses HID cards.

Q7: To expedite the removal and replacement of the existing gate, would it be acceptable to remove both gate sections at the same time? This would leave both lanes open and accessible for a short period of time with no installed security gate?
A7: Yes, there is a second security gate prior to accessing the facility’s parking area so it will be acceptable to remove both sections of existing gate at the same time during the replacement process.

All other terms and conditions remain the same.
