The University of Oregon is issuing this request for qualifications (RFQ) for the procurement of
Artworks and Services as described below.
The University of Oregon seeks artworks for installation at Hamilton and Walton residence halls
transformation project, currently being constructed on the Eugene campus, at the northeast
corner of 15th Avenue and Agate Streets. The RFQ may be a proposal to purchase a preexisting
artwork(s) and/or a proposal to create a new artwork(s). Submissions of preexisting artwork(s)
must follow submission procedures in Application Section Option 1 (preexisting works);
submissions for proposed works must follow procedures in Application Section Option 2
All submissions must meet document requirements below in order to be considered. The
University reserves the right to select individual works for future proposals based on the
University’s review process.
Request for Qualifications
This is a request for artist qualifications demonstrating professional standing and capacity to
work on this project as well as proposals for preexisting artworks suitable to this site.
The Hamilton and Walton residence halls transformation project includes multiple suitable art
locations. The total budget for the artworks and all associated costs is not to exceed
$500,000.00; this budget amount will include all fabrication, delivery, installation, permitting
fees and related costs. The request for qualification is to determine eligibility for a future
request for proposals (RFP) to commission artworks or to purchase preexisting artworks in
some or all of the proposed installation locations.
Works of art should provide a safe and welcoming environment for students, visitors and the
general university community.
$500,000.00 is allocated to commission a work or works of art or to purchase preexisting work
or works of art for the designated installation sites within and surrounding Hamilton and Walton
residence halls transformation project. The Art Selection Committee anticipates dividing the
budget between multiple successful applicants.
Hamilton and Walton residence halls transformation project is located at the northeast corner of
15th Avenue and Agate Streets in Eugene, Oregon.
Possible installation locations include interior and exterior spaces of Hamilton and Walton
residence halls transformation project. These locations are noted in the Appendix A plan

Selected artists will be asked to submit proposals for any site or combination of sites. Proposals
may be for any combination of commissioned works or preexisting works. See Appendix A for
dimensional information of each location and general renderings of the site.

Application Section Option 1 (preexisting works):
Applicants with preexisting artwork(s) may propose this work(s) for Installation Site(s).
Applicants must submit:
1. Statement of interest and qualification. Not more than 2 page narrative describing
either your interest (if Applicant is the artist) or the artist’s appropriateness (if
Applicant is not the artist) for this Project and qualifications to complete the work.
Include a brief narrative description of the artwork(s), proposed location(s) and
appropriateness to the site.
2. 2 references the committee may contact attesting to professional credentials and
3. CV and documentation of the artist’s previous work.
4. Not more than 10 images of the proposed artwork, identifying title, location,
dimensions and details.
5. Proposed budget for project including; purchase cost, insurance, permits,
engineering fees, shipping, travel, installation, documentation and any other Project

costs. A separate budget must be completed for each proposed artwork and

maintenance, anticipated longevity of work.

your interest in this project and qualifications to complete the work.

A Selection Committee appointed for this project will review applications and select finalists for
interview. Final candidates will be selected to participate in a request for proposals (RFP) in
which they will submit a complete document of their proposal suitable for evaluation and
completion of the contracting process. If proposals are requested, an appropriate fee will be
extended to finalists for proposals and proposal presentations. Applications may be considered
and contracts awarded at the discretion of the art selection committee prior to the application
