REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
Cheboygan County is soliciting proposals from interested parties to provide veterinary services to the Cheboygan
County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit. The Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Department is seeking a qualified licensed
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) for full veterinary services to include preventative, emergency and after
hours care.
Mailed proposals must be sealed and will be received at 870 S. Main St. Cheboygan MI 49721 until October 19,
2020 at 1:00pm at which time they will be opened and examined by the Cheboygan County Administrator and
the Cheboygan County Sheriff and or his designee(s).
Mailed proposals must be sealed and clearly marked on the outside of the envelope

Proposals may be mailed to the above address attention County Administrator or hand delivered to the
Cheboygan County Administrator Office, room 131, located at 870 S. Main St. Cheboygan MI 49721.

It is expected that the selected veterinarian should be ready to proceed with services upon the County’s
execution of the service agreement.

INFORMATION PACKET
Request for Veterinarian Services
PROJECT SCOPE:
Cheboygan County is soliciting proposals from qualified licensed Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) to provide
veterinary services to attend to the health care needs of the Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit
with the office of the Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Department located at 870 S. Main St. Cheboygan MI 49721.
Bidders must be able to perform requested services and have the proper equipment, supplies, and medicine
necessary to provide appropriate care. Currently the K-9 Unit consists of two Belgian Malinois canines.
BACKGROUND ON THIS PROJECT:
Ability to provide proper veterinary care to the Department’s K-9 unit
Ability to provide 24 hour and emergency veterinary services to the Department’s K-9 unit
REQUIREMENTS:
Be a Michigan licensed Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in good standing
Main clinic location within the County of Cheboygan
Have all proper and necessary supplies, medicines and equipment to carry out all medical procedures
required from a veterinarian with what would be considered reasonable capabilities
Have a computer record keeping and billing system
Have a notification system for preventative care appointments
Ability to respond to the field or your clinic for emergency services within a reasonable time
To field calls to provide medical care consultations
SERVICES:
To include but not limited to:
Advising on the care of canines
Diagnoses
Treatments
Lab work
Administering immunizations
Conducting physical examinations
Providing emergency care
Performing surgery and dental procedures within your capabilities
Prescribing medication
Induce anesthesia
Apply casts and splints
Euthanizing

FEES ASSOCIATED WITH LEVELS OF CARE:
Bidder to provide base rate fees for
Office visits
Preventative care, immunizations
Diagnoses
Labs
Bidder to provide fee schedule or base rate fees for procedures, surgical or otherwise
Bidder to provide fee schedule or base rate fees for emergency call out
*The Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Department is tax exempt.
CONTRACT TERMS
The selected veterinarian and County will negotiate a contract that will be for a period of five years.
PRE-PROPOSAL MEETING
Bidders may request a pre-proposal meeting which will be scheduled through the Undersheriff between
September 23rd-October 8th, 9:00am-2:00pm Monday-Thursday to answer any questions by bidders. Questions
will be in written form and answered and shared with other bidders.
