MILL CREEK SOUTH #10 TIMBER SALE

This sale is a fourth row select thinning of 23-year-old longleaf pine on approximately 124 acres divided into two blocks. The goal is to leave 40-50 square feet per acre residual basal area of the best trees. Approximately 30% of the harvest area has been marked as an example for the harvester. Pines marked with blue at eye level are to be harvested and unmarked pines are to be left unharmed to continue to grow. The remaining unmarked acreage will be a logger select thinning using the example marked area as a guide. The logging slash will be scattered back through the stand. The DISTRICT PROJECT MANAGER will routinely make an assessment of the timber harvest to ensure the objectives are being met.
