Notice is hereby given that on January 28,2020 at 11:00 A.M. (Prevailing time), sealed bids will
be opened and read in public by the Purchasing Agent in the Mercer County McDade
Administration Building, 640 South Broad Street, Room 321Third Floor, Trenton, New Jersey for:

Bids shall be delivered in sealed envelopes and addressed to, Purchasing Department, Room
#321, 640 South Broad Street, Third Floor, P.O. Box 8068, Trenton, NJ 08650-0068.
**Express and overnight mail shall be delivered to the Department of Purchasing, 640 S. Broad
Street, Room 321, Trenton, New Jersey 08611.
NOTE:
The United States Postal Service does not deliver priority or overnight mail directly to the County
of Mercer’s physical address. If a bidder chooses to use the United States Postal Service, it is the
bidder’s responsibility to ensure that the bid package is delivered by the bid opening date and
time. Any bid document received after the deadline established by the Department of
Purchasing will not be accepted, regardless of the method of delivery.
Specifications and drawings may be obtained at the Department of Purchasing for a fee of
$100.00 made payable to the County of Mercer during office hours of 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.
The County of Mercer does not release the project estimate.
Bidders are required to comply with the requirements of N.J.S.A.10:5-31 et seq. and N.J.A.C.
17:27.

MERCER STABLES PHASE 2 ADDITION AND RENOVATIONS FOR THE MERCER COUNTY PARK COMMISSION
INTENT
The County of Mercer requests bids for Mercer Stables Phase 2 addition and renovations for the Mercer
County Park Commission. The project will be constructed under a single prime contract.
PROJECT SUMMARY
▪ Construct 1294 square foot slab-on-grade addition to the existing office area - wood frame walls, wood
truss roof, match exterior metal siding and metal roofing.
▪ Renovate the existing office area - new partitions and finishes.
▪ Renovate the original tack room.
▪ Provide two ADA compliant toilet rooms.
▪ Renovate the original horse stalls - provide 23 new stall fronts, with divider panels and back walls.
▪ Replace deteriorated poles at the original office wing.
▪ Provide new HVAC for the addition and the existing office area.
▪ Provide interior and exterior electrical lighting and power.
Alternate No. 1: Proposed work in the original stable wing remove existing stall fronts, stall doors and
divider walls; provide new stall fronts, stall doors, divider walls, stall back walls, electrical power and lighting.
Alternate No. 2: Provide snow guards to match the spacing, style and color of the existing snow guards, in
the following locations:
1. In two rows at all edges of the roofs of the existing building and the new addition.
2. In two rows, 4'-0" long above all pipes, vents and roof penetrations.
3. In two rows, mid-way up the slope on the main north and south roofs, each row approximately 166 feet
long.
BASE BID AND ALTERNATES
Refer to the technical specifications and drawings. There is a base bid and two (2) alternates. The County
requires all bidders to provide pricing for the base bid and all bidders are required to provide pricing for the
stated alternate bids. The contractor will be responsible for all required permits and fees. All work to be
performed shall be in accordance with the Project Documents, Drawings and Specifications.
BRAND OR EQUIVALENT
All references to brand names in the technical specifications shall be interpreted as brand or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
Bidders and subcontractors shall have three (3) yearsexperience in providing similar projects. Bidders shall
provide three (3) verifiable references.
SCHEDULE AND COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS
Project Substantial Completion: Work will commence within Ten (10) Calendar Days after receipt of written
"Notice to Proceed" and be substantially completed within 180 calendar days from the receipt of the
Notice to Proceed. Liquidated damages in the amount of $500 per calendar day shall be assessed if the
project is not completed within the stated time of completion.
