Notes:
Iowa State University of Science and Technology (ISU) is soliciting
information from qualified Suppliers on behalf of the Agricultural and
Biosystems Engineering (ABE) Department for a linear test stand to be
utilized to simulate an agricultural machine operating at speed in a field
environment but under a controlled environment.
Suppliers should read all materials carefully and note the due date.
Suppliers must direct all questions and comments in reference to this RFP/RFQ to
the University Representative using the QUESTIONS tab via this e-procurement
system.

2 INTENDED RESEARCH PURPOSE AND APPLICATION
The linear test stand will be utilized to simulate an agricultural machine operating at speed in a field
environment but in a controlled environment. Sensors and/or system components found on those
machines will be mounted to the traveling carriage, which will operate at a defined constant speed, with
data collected during the constant velocity period to aid in development and/or validation of
components.

3 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
The system technical and functional requirements are detailed in the document called Linear Test Stand
Requirements_Final (2) requirements and Appendices which can be found and downloaded from the
Attachments tab.
All specifications of the offered equipment are expected to meet, exceed, or be functionally equivalent to the
requirements listed.
Offers that include specifications that vary may be considered, however, ISU has the sole discretion to determine if
the specifications offered meet our needs.

5 FACILITY INFORMATION
The facility that will house this equipment will have the following power options available: 480V 3 phase, 208V
1 & 3 phase, 110V.
The stand will be located in an interior room adjacent to a high bay.
The ceiling height of this space will be at or above 18ft.
Access to the room will be through a 10ft x 10ft opening in the wall.
Delivery address will be 3800 University Blvd. Ames, IA 50010. However, the facility is still under construction
with a target completion date of 11/4/24.
There will be limited access to ISU facilities during University breaks during the periods of 11/27/24 - 11/29/24
and 12/23/24 - 1/1/25. Suppliers' offers should not be dependent on having access to this location or any
ISU services during these periods.

7 PREFERRED CONTRACT INCLUSIONS
Iowa State strongly prefers that the services below are incorporated into your offer. All associated costs including,
but not limited to, travel costs must be included and disclosed in your pricing quotation.
A design review will be conducted prior to any work starting to ensure that all specifications are met, or
limitations are understood and agreed upon by all parties.
ISU should have the opportunity to review the completed unit at supplier's location to ensure specifications
were met and any defects observed can be corrected prior to shipping.
Onsite installation and performance checks should take place within 2 weeks of delivery. ISU and supplier
should determine a mutually agreeable date for training after the machine is installed and fully functional.

8 Operator and Service Manuals
Contractor shall provide to University at the time it delivers the equipment to University operator and service
manuals that provide instructions for the operation and maintenance of the equipment, including any sub-unit
assemblies and software. A link to online materials providing this information is acceptable. The manuals must be
accurate, current and in English.

9 PROPOSED TIMELINE
Iowa State strongly desires for this equipment to be delivered no later than December 2nd, 2024 AND
be tested and fully functional no later than January 1 2025.
