GILCHRIST WELLFIELD #1 TIMBER SALE

This sale is a sandhill restoration project on approximately 100 acres of natural longleaf pine and hardwoods. Chipping of non-merchantable hardwood, hardwood tops, and pine tops is required for this sale. Harvesting will be limited to 6:30 am through sunset due to the tract location. The harvest is divided into 3 timber type areas. Area 1 is 21 acres of predominately natural hardwood with scattered pine. The area is to be clearcut except for longleaf pine marked with orange paint. Area 2 is 58 acres of predominately longleaf pine to be thinned. All unmarked pines and hardwoods are to be harvested. Pines marked with orange paint are to be left unharmed to continue to grow. Area 3 is 21 acres of scattered longleaf pine, sand pine and hardwood. All hardwoods and sand pines are to be harvested. All longleaf pine is to be left unharmed to continue to grow. This area is not marked. The DISTRICT PROJECT MANAGER will routinely make an assessment of the timber harvest to ensure the objectives are being met.
