1.0 STATEMENT AND SCOPE OF WORK
1.1 Summary
The University of Florida (UF) is seeking proposals from vendors for a complete block storage
solution including hardware, support, potential installation and professional services, as part of
the standard five-year equipment refresh cycle.
The current Storage deployment consists of Dell XIO and RecoverPoint hardware appliances,
located in two Gainesville datacenters. This solution supports relational database services on
nine Oracle RAC hosts and four MSSQL hosts at each UF Datacenter. The hosts and storage are
connected via dual FibreChannel (FC) fabrics stretching between the datacenters. The hosts are
connected via 8G and 16G FC HBAs.
The current replication solution between our two datacenters is handled by Oracle DataGuard
and MSSQL AlwaysOn. However, there are other use cases for storage array replication, which
are indicated below in the Technical Specifications.
1.2 Scope of Work
The vendor will provide a system which meets or exceeds the specifications listed below. The
proposal will include design elements for a highly available and redundant system across two (2) on-
premises datacenters, eight (8) km apart, with 99.999% uptime. Design requirements of high
availability will include no single points of failure. The proposal will include a scaled lab environment
for testing of software upgrades, changes, replication, and failover.
In addition to the hardware and design element, the proposal will include a separate professional
services statement of work for the vendor to perform the complete installation for the replacement
project. The statement of work will detail all the steps for install and configuration and any UF
resources needed for the engagement. UF will make the ultimate determination as to who will install
the system.
The proposal shall at a minimum separate out the following sections:
1. Primary site (hardware, software, and all components)
2. Secondary site (hardware, software, and all components)
3. Primary site lab/test (hardware, software, and all components)
4. Professional Service SOW for installation and configuration/deployment of the solution at all
applicable sites
5. Storage Capacity Growth of 20% quotes for both sites to be executed as needed through term
and option years.
6. Maintenance and Support extension quotes for all components to be executed in option years 1
and 2.
As part of the evaluation process, the vendor will provide a test platform that mirrors the proposed
system. A scaled down platform is acceptable as long as all system components are included, and
all requirement testing can be conducted. As part of the evaluation process, UF requires a five-day
period of hands-on access to the proposed system. This can be conducted either via remote access
to equipment located in a vendor lab, or physically in our datacenter(s) via temporary vendor
equipment installation.
1.2.1 Technical Specifications
The bracketed numbers at the end of each required feature references the Section 2.1 Evaluation
Criteria.
