Iowa State University and the Iowa State University Alumni Association (hereafter referred to as “University” or “ISU”) is interested in contracting with a funeral home to provide services related to a proposed columbarium construction that will be created next to the existing ISU cemetery. Contractor will not be responsible for perpetual care (ISU responsibility). Contract will be for a five-year period with a five-year extension upon mutual agreement.
The awarded contractor will work with ISU to pre-sell niche sites and ancillary services to fund the construction of the first phase of the columbarium construction (see attached design and phase plan). The plan would be to begin construction in 2025 if pre-sales support the project.
This contract will include the following services:

Marketing the niches to interested parties (alumni, faculty, staff)

Sale of urns, memorials, and mementos to clients

Coordination and installation of name plaques

Contracting with the family and receiving payment for the inurnment services and the niche(s)

Depositing cremated remains in the columbarium

Providing access to the niches when requested by family

Record keeping of inurnments

Any reporting required by law

Transferring client payment to ISU, who will retain any commission and perpetual care portion and remit remainder to contractor.

Transferring any funds for future inurnments to ISU or new contractor at the end of the contract

Working with funeral homes that provide services for anyone that will be laid to rest in the columbarium

Providing services at the inurnment site if requested.
Companies MUST respond to this RFP to be considered for this contract.
