The City of Asheville will receive bids for the following Project:
Project Name: Bus Shelter installation Bond Project X 1703 Phase 2
Bid Number: 298-X1703-PH2
Bid Due Date and Time: Monday, March 26th at 2:00 PM.
Bids Shall Be Delivered To: 70 Court Plaza, Suite 100, Asheville, North Carolina, 28801 by
courier or in person please address to Dewayne Riddle, Project Manager. Or by USPS Capital
Projects PO Box 7148, Asheville NC 28802.
An optional pre-bid conference will be held on March 18th at 11:00 am at 70 Court Plaza- City Hall,
on the mezzanine floor, Transportation conference room, Asheville, North Carolina.
Attendance at the pre-bid conference is highly encouraged but not mandatory.
Description of Work: The project will consist of demolition of older style shelters noted in the
Project Special Provision and installation of Shelters supplied by the City of Asheville. The
construction of new 4” 4000 psi concrete pads, grading and installation of the City of Asheville
supplied shelters. Project details are found in General Provisions, Project Special Provisions and
construction plans. The City of Asheville will provide the necessary Building,Grading and Zoning
permit. Encroachment agreements with NCDOT will be provided by the City of Asheville. The
contractor will be responsible to follow the encroachment agreement terms set by NCDOT.

The City of Asheville reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities.

Miscellaneous Requirements of the Bid
License Requirements:
All bidders must have a current North Carolina General Contractor's License with the appropriate
classification for the work of the project at the time of the bid.
Certification of a Drug-Free Workplace:
Bidders are notified that the City of Asheville has adopted a Drug-Free Workplace Policy requiring
successful bidders to insure that a drug-free workplace is provided in the performance of any City of
Asheville construction contracts. By submitting a bid proposal, Bidder certifies that if awarded the
Contract, they and their subcontractors shall comply with the City’s Drug-Free Workplace Policy. The

Special Attention:
● Bid proposals shall include the cost of required insurance and payment of any applicable local,
State and Federal taxes. The City Council of the City of Asheville has adopted a policy that the
City of Asheville will not enter into contracts with bidders who are delinquent in the payment of
ad valorem taxes owed to the City of Asheville.
● Contractor will need to remove shelters from the packing crate and dispose of the crate
materials. Contractor will have one (1) week from the time they unpack shelter from the crate to
dispose of materials. All new shelters will be washed after they are installed and Bus stop signs
relocated to new shelter locations.
