SECTION 01300 – SUBMITTALS
PART 1 – GENERAL
1.01 SHOP DRAWINGS:
A. Where called for in the Contract Documents, the Contractor shall submit to the
Engineer for review, a minimum of four (4) prints of each Shop drawing, which will be
retained for Engineer/Owner Records. Additional sets submitted will be returned to the
Contractor for their use. Shop Drawings shall be understood to include all materials,
detail calculations, reinforcement bar bending diagrams, fabrication, erection and
installation drawings, parts lists, operating instructions, etc. Drawings shall be
submitted in sufficient time to allow the Engineer not less than seven(7) working
days for review of such drawings and to accommodate the rate of construction progress
required under the Contract.
1. Transmittals: All Shop Drawing Submittals shall be accompanied by a
transmittal form accurately indicating the materials being transmitted using
terminology and notations of these Specifications and Drawings.
2. ALL COMPLIANCE SUBMITTALS SHALL BEAR THE CONTRACTOR’S
STAMP INDICATING THE SUBMITTAL HAS BEEN CHECKED FOR
COMPLIANCE WITH THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS, DATE CHECKED
AND CONTRACTOR’S SIGNATURE. Before submission of each Shop
Drawing the Contractor shall have determined and verified all quantities,
dimensions, specified performance criteria, installation requirements, materials,
catalog numbers and similar data, with respect thereto and reviewed or
coordinated each Shop Drawing with other Shop Drawings and with the
requirements of the Work and the Contract Documents.
B. Shop Drawing Review: The review of Shop Drawings by the Engineer or Owner will be
limited to checking for general agreement with the Contract Documents and shall in
no way relieve the Contractor of responsibility for errors or omissions contained therein
or shall such review operate to waive or modify any provisions contained in the
Contract Documents. Fabricating dimensions, quantities of material, applicable
code requirements and other Contract requirements shall be the Contractor’s
responsibility.
1. When the Shop Drawings have been reviewed by the Engineer or Owner,
additional copies in excess of the minimum four (4) copies required will be
returned to the Contractor appropriately stamped. If major changes or
corrections are necessary, the Shop Drawings may be rejected and one (1) set
will be returned to the Contractor with the required changes or corrections
indicated and the Contractor shall promptly make the required changes or
corrections. The Contractor shall make a complete and acceptable second
submittal to the Engineer.

Revisions indicated on Shop Drawings shall be limited to changes necessary to
meet the requirements of the Contract Documents and shall not be taken as the
basis of claims for extra work. The Contractor shall have no claim for damages
or extension of time due to any delay resulting from the Contractor’s having to

make the required revisions.
3. Engineer’s or Owner's review stamp appropriately completed, will appear
on all Shop Drawing Submittals returned to Contractor by Engineer or
Owner. Drawings will be marked according to one of the following:
a.
No Exceptions Taken (no notes made by Engineer).
b. Comments Attached.
c. Note Markings
d.
Resubmit (make corrections noted – resubmit).
e.
Rejected – See Remarks (rejected for reasons listed by Engineer).
4. Shop Drawing submittals marked "No Exceptions Taken" or "Comments
Attached" will not be further reviewed and are not to be revised. If errors are
discovered during manufacture or fabrication, the submittal shall be corrected
including any notes from the previous approval and resubmitted for review as
a record shop drawing submittal. Such discoveries shall not relieve the
Contractor of compliance with the Contract Documents.
5. Shop Drawing Submittals marked "Note Markings", "Resubmit" or
"Rejected", shall be corrected, incorporating the notes into the submittal and
resubmitted for review. Procurement or fabrication shall not be initiated or
shall be stopped.
6. No WORK requiring a Shop Drawing Submittal shall be commenced until the
submittal has been stamped "No exceptions Taken" or "Comments Attached",
by Engineer or Owner.
7. The Contractor shall maintain a file of reviewed submittals at the project site
and available for access and inspection by the Owner or Engineer upon
request. All work shall be performed in accordance with reviewed submittals.
1.02 RECORD DOCUMENT SUBMITTALS:
A. General:
1. Do not use record documents for construction purposes; protect form
deterioration and loss in a secure, fire resistive location; provide access to
record documents for the Engineer’s and Owner's reference during normal
working hours.

B. Record Drawings:
1. Maintain a clean, undamaged set of blue or black line white-prints of Contract
Drawings and Shop Drawings. Mark the set to show the actual installation
where the installation varies from the WORK as originally shown. Mark
whichever drawing is most capable of showing conditions fully and accurately;
where Shop Drawings are used, record a cross- reference at the corresponding
location on the Contract Drawings.

SECTION 01400 – TESTING SERVICES
PART 1 – GENERAL
1.01 SCOPE OF WORK:
A. All laboratory tests to determine compliance with the Contract Documents shall be
performed by an independent commercial testing firm acceptable to the Engineer. The
testing firm’s laboratory shall be staffed with experienced technicians, properly equipped
and fully qualified to perform the tests in accordance with the specified standards.
B. Any testing services provided by Owner are for the sole benefit of Owner, however,
test results shall be available to Contractor. Testing necessary to satisfy Contractor’s
internal quality control procedures and bid requirements shall be the sole responsibility of
the Contractor.
1.02 TESTING SERVICES FURNISHED BY CONTRACTOR:
A. Unless otherwise specified, Contractor shall provide all testing services in connection
with the following:
1. Concrete materials and mix designs (Independent Lab)
2. Concrete Compressive Strength (Independent Lab)
3. Chip Seal materials and mix designs (Independent Lab) – As Applicable
B. All other tests and engineering data required for Engineer’s review of materials and
equipment proposed to be used in the WORK.
C. Contractor shall obtain Engineer’s acceptance of the testing firm(s) before having
services performed and shall pay all costs for these testing services.
1.03 TRANSMITTAL OF TEST REPORTS:
A. Written reports of tests and engineering data furnished by Contractor for Engineer’s
review of materials and equipment proposed to be used in the WORK shall be submitted
as specified for Shop Drawings.
1.04 TESTING SERVICES FURNISHED BY OWNER:
A. No testing services will be provided by the Owner.

SECTION 01550 – CLEAN-UP
PART 1 – GENERAL
1.01 SCOPE OF WORK:
A. This section shall consist of the cleanup necessary to complete the work after all items of
inspection are completed and before final acceptance by the Owner.
1.02 CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS:
A. Upon completion of all items of constructed and inspected work, the work area shall be
cleaned to the satisfaction of the Owner. Backfill areas, and other disturbed earthen areas,
shall be backfilled and graded to represent the final grade. Rocks, roots or other matter
shall be removed, and the area shall be left in a neat, workmanlike condition.
B. Chip seal areas shall be cleaned in accordance with Section 02750 – Chip Seal.
