ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
BARAGA COUNTY ROAD COMMISSION
Sealed bids are solicited for the construction of “ERFO Sites 4, & 17”, for the Baraga County Road
Commission, Baraga County, Michigan. The projects in general include: the installation of multiple culverts,
backfill, riprap, slope restoration, and road restoration at two separate locations (Shippy Road, & Vuk Road).
ERFO Sites 4 & 17 – Shippy Road and Usimaki Road: - 2 culvert replacements & aggregate surface
restoration: Bid Due at 2:30 P.M. ET
Bids will be received by the said Owner above addressed to: Baraga County Road Commission, US-41
South, P.O. Box 217, L’Anse, Michigan 49946, until time stated on July 16, 2020, at which time the sealed
Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at the Baraga County Road Commission Office at US-41 South in
L’Anse. Contractor please clearly mark “BID ENCLOSED” with Project Site Name Identified on the outside
envelope of sealed bid.
The Contract Documents may be examined at the office of U.P. Engineers & Architects, Inc. at 100 Portage
Street, Houghton, Michigan 49931; and at the following Builders Exchanges: Marquette, Iron Mountain, and
Copies of the Contract Documents may be obtained from the Houghton office of U.P. Engineers & Architects,
Inc., 100 Portage Street, Houghton, MI 49931 upon payment of a $50.00 nonrefundable handling fee for each.
A PDF of the plans and specifications may be obtained from the Houghton office of U.P. Engineers & Architects,
Inc, upon payment of a $10.00 non-refundable fee for each.
BID SECURITY - No Bid shall be received unless accompanied by a certified check or satisfactory Bid Bond
payable to the Owner in an amount no less than five percent (5%) of the maximum bid as a guarantee, that if the
Bid is accepted, the Bidder will execute and file the Contract, Performance and Payment Bonds, and Insurance
Certification, as required by the Contract Documents within ten (10) days after the Notice of Award and may not
be withdrawn for a period of 60 days after bid deadline.
The Owner reserves the right to waive any informality or to reject any or all bids.
QUALIFICATIONS - Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) prequalification classification for each
project is 200 Ea. Bidders must have the proper classification and numerical rating required for the work bid.
WAGE RATES - Minimum wages to be paid on the project shall be in accordance with prevailing wage rates
included in the bidding documents.
GOVERNMENT LAWS AND REGULATIONS - This is a Federally Funded project. The Contractor and
Subcontractors on this project must comply with Tribal Employment Rights Office (TERO) preference, HUD
contract provisions 24CFR part 85.36(i), the Davis-Bacon Act, Nondiscrimination, Equal Employment
Opportunity, Affirmative Action, Section 3 requirements, Anti-Kickback Act, Federal Occupational Safety and
Health Act and Department of Labor Standards and Regulations as set forth in the Contract Bid Documents.
