THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN TEMPORARILY POSTPONED. The project work consists of removing shoals from the Manatee Harbor Entrance Channel and Turning Basin, dredging to a required depth of 40 feet plus 1 foot allowable overdepth. A drag bar may be used for Stations 94+00 to 171+29 in lieu of dredging. There is approximately 6,000 cubic yards (cy) in this area. From Stations 16+17 to 94+00 dredging is required. The quantity to be dredged is approximately 210,200 cy. The maximum dredge size that will be allowed on this project is a 24 inch discharge cutter-suction dredge. Dredged material will be placed at the designated upland disposal area, located at the Manatee County Port Authority approximately 3 miles from the channel. Minor earthwork will be required at the disposal site to include dressing of the dike. Weirs located on the cross dike of the upland disposal area will be removed and disposed of. Turbidity and ammonia monitoring will be required. Special Note: Low water levels in Lake Okeechobee make it impractical to mobilize equipment through the Okeechobee Waterway. Magnitude of construction is between $5,000,000.00 to $10,000,000.00. The solicitation will be issued on or about June 02, 2008 with bids due on or about July 03, 2008.
