The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District, (COE) intends to issue a solicitation for heavy construction work in FY08, for a project located in a former industrial area in Jackson County, Missouri. The site is South of the Missouri River, West of the Heart of America Bridge, North of the Kansas City River Market area, and East of the Main Street pedestrian overlook bridge.

The general scope of work includes, but is not limited to, extensive site preparation with subsequent construction of a wetland. Site preparation will involve clearing, grubbing, and concrete foundation and asphalt demolition, with off-site rubble and debris disposal. Some site grading will be required.

The project will include construction of a native habitat to include trees, shrubs and wetland plantings. The wetland will be lined with a geosynthetic liner. A new water well will be required to support the wetlands. A wood chip path will be constructed.
Protection of existing utility lines will be important throughout the project.

The magnitude of this project is between $500,000.00 and $1,000,000.00. The NAICS code is 237990 with a size standard of $31,000,000.00.
