Description
This is an announcement for an upcoming Industry day only.     The solicitation will be issued between April and May 2008.     Disregard registration instructions. There is no solicitation at this time.     Any registrations entered prior to removal of this r estriction will be removed and the registrant will have to re-register in order to receive a copy of the solicitation.       The Government will not provide notification to tfirms that have to re-register.     The Jacksonville District Corps of Engineers will hol d an Industry Day, March 13, 2008, at 1300 HRS by TELECONFERENCE.     We will make a short presentation describing the project, technical requirements, and proposed contract.     A general discussion will follow.     The authorized project for Jacksonville Harbor p rovides for the deepening of the ship channel from Station 6+53.19 of Cut-50 to Station 65+00 of Terminal Channel to a depth of 40 feet and an expansion of the Chaseville Widener by 100 to 200 feet.     To facilitate the authorized project, the Phase III deep ening contract will dredge the Federal Channel to a required depth of 42 feet plus 2 feet of allowable overdepth.     Total quantity to be dredged from the Federal Channel is approximately up to 1,700,000 cubic yards.     The Phase III contract will also include     an Optional Bid Items for four (4) non-Federal berthing areas to be dredged to a required depth of 40 feet plus 2 feet of allowable overdepth.     The first area requires the dredging of approximately 38,000 cubic yards of material from the Jacksonville Port     Authority's (JPA) Berths 4 through 8.     The second requires the dredging of approximately 40,000 cubic yards of material from the Chevron Berth.     The third requires the dredging of approximately 5000 cubic yards of material from the ST Services Berth.     The     fourth requires the dredging of approximately 52,000 cubic yards of material from the Navy Fuel Depot Berth.     All dredged material will be placed in the west end of Bartram Island (D/A-1 Cell A) which is located an average of 3.5 miles from the dredging l ocation.     Materials to be dredged consist of rock, consolidated materials consisting of dense compacted clay or silt, and unconsolidated materials consisting of sand, silty sand, silt and clay.     Blasting will not be allowed under this contract. The Contrac t will be divided into Base and Option Bid Items with the following reaches: Base:     Cut-50 Station 6+53.19 to intersection of Cut-52/Cut-53 (Approximately 670,000 cy). Option 1:     Intersection of Cut-52/Cut-53 to Cut-54 Station 3+50.17 (Approximately 300,00 0 cy). Option 2: Cut-54 Station 3+50.17 to Terminal Channel Station 65+00 (Approximately 730,000 cy).
Option 3:     Navy Fuel Depot Berth and ST Services Berth (Approximately 57,000 cy).
Option 4:     Chevron Berth and Jacksonville Port Authority Berths 4 through 8 (Approximately 78,000 cy). Option 3, if awarded, will be awarded at the time of the Base Contract.
