This is a yearly sources sought announcement for construction services related to abatement of coal mining related emergencies, including landslides, refuse fires, mine fires, mine drainage, mine subsidence, and hazardous shafts and openings. Emergency projects are primarily in KY and PA with a limited number in GA, MD, MI, RI and TN. Work may involve backfillng, excavation and grading, construction of gabions and steel piling walls, installation of rip rap channels, drilling and grouting, excavation and quenching of burning refuse material, the installation of drainage systems and revegetation of disturbed areas. Solicitations are issued with a short turn around time due to the emergency nature of the projects. Often bids are required to be submitted the same day as the site showing. Interested parties should submit a written request for a bidder list application.
