Description of Work: The work consists of furnishing all plant, labor, materials and equipment, and constructing Item 361-R, Levee Enlargement and Berms, in Concordia Parish, Louisiana. Principal features of work include mobilization and demobilization, clearing and grubbing, semicompacted levee embankment, uncompacted berm embankment, ramps, removing and replacing existing gravel surfacing, new crushed stone surfacing, mowing, turfing, erosion control matting, cattle guards, corrugated metal pipe, relief wells, storm water pollution prevention and environmental protection. The estimated value of the proposed work is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. Plans and specifications will be available on the Federal Business Opportunities (Fed Biz Ops) Web Page at http://www.fbo.gov/ . Compact discs and hardcopies will not be available. Bidders should check the Fed Biz Opps webpage often for new solicitations and/or changes (AMENDMENTS) to existing ones. Issue date on or about 01 Aug 2008. Bid Opening Date on or about 04 September 08 at 1400 hrs. local time at place of bid opening. Bidders may register on the Interested Vendors List (IVL) at http:www2.fbo.gov/ and retrieve an IVL from the same location. Rights-of-Way to proceed with construction are not available; therefore, bids will not be opened and contract award will not be made until all necessary rights-of-way are available.
