Basic Contract Items
The dam rehabilitation work consists of replacing seven vertical lift gates, modify one existing vertical lift gate, furnishing and installing operating machinery, electrical system and controls. The work consists of fabricating and delivering three new lift gates; transporting and installing two Government-furnished emergency bulkhead units and four Government-furnished lift gates; removing the existing vertical lift gates, gate hoist machinery, and machinery houses; modifying the dam piers to accommodate the new hydraulic gate hoist equipment; replacing embedded metal in the gate recesses of the dam piers; installing the new lift gates; and constructing new machinery houses. The gates are approximately 100 long, 14 high, and weigh approximately 93 tons. Gate hoist machinery is direct lift hydraulic cylinder type.
Awardable Option Items
The abutment repair work consists of constructing of a steel pipe pile and sheet pile combination wall and installing rock anchors to stabilize the existing abutment, and repair of the existing abutment wall. The scour protection work consists of removal of existing derrick stone and graded stone scour protection, dredging, and construction of new scour protection consisting of geogrid, stone bedding, and grout filled fabric bags, construction of a cast-in-place concrete tie-in structure at the existing dam apron, and placement of the removed derrick stone downstream of the new scour protection.
