Qualification proposal are being accepted to provide professional design services for the following project:

VARIOUS SUITES, BERKELEY PLACE NORTH & SOUTH

The University is seeking a firm to enter into an Executive Design Professional Agreement with the University, to provide proposals, professional architectural and design services for various tenant improvement projects in the Berkeley Place building. The work shall include interior renovation and tenant improvements for upscale offices, classrooms, and other academic facilities.

Design work is to encompass various scopes of work simultaneously over a period of 24 to 36 months. Space planning and design efforts will be tightly coordinated between UCI Facilities Management and the campus end user. Various approvals will be required during the design phase including UCI EH&S and State Fire Marshal. Designer will be responsible for assisting the University in responding to RFIs during all phases of the project as well as providing support for change orders and regular on-site inspections of work in progress.

Characteristics of the project are expected to include the following items:

Value of the Executive Design Professional Agreement is estimated to be $100,000 minimum.
Square footage of the work is 100,000 SF minimum.

The construction of this project will be bid as a traditional construction contract. The selected design team will prepare complete construction documents including drawings and specifications in compliance with applicable UCI Campus Standards and design criteria. The Consultant agreement will be based on the Universitys standard Executive Design Professional Agreement. During the construction phase, the Architect / Engineer will be involved in construction meetings review of Contractors shop drawings and other submittals and advise the University on the adequacy of their content, and reviewing on-site construction for general conformance to the approved construction documents.

Selection of the Architect / Engineer will follow standard University procedures. Only firms with previous University experience as well as with demonstrated experience in projects of similar type and scope will be considered due to the unique features of this project. The proposed team shall consist of a lead Architectural firm with supporting team members in engineering and other disciplines as required. Preference will be given to design teams with established offices in California. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons, regardless of race, religion, sex color, ethnicity, and national origin have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University.

To be considered for this project, submit 4 copies of a proposal including the following:
Relevant material demonstrating experience in design/preparation of documents for projects of similar type and scope.
Identification of all consultants intended to be part of the design team.
Qualifications of key team members from lead design firm.
Narrative description of design approach.
Description of each participating firms equal opportunity policy.
