The USPS Leased Space Accessibility Program (LSAP) typically consists of small scale handicap improvements to leased facilities throughout states of the mid-west. Projects are awarded in groups of approximately 30 to general contractors pre-approved by USPS The buildings are predominantly wood framed structures with masonry or wood constructed bearing wall, with steel framed buildings tending to be located near major metropolitan areas. The improvements typically consist of:
PLUMBING:
Replacement of faucets, drinking fountains, installation of sink waste line insulation, water coolers, and occasionally the construction of a new restroom tying into existing services.
CARPENTRY:
Modification of custom wood framed customer counters, installation of manufactured customer counters and tables, replacement of doors, closers and hardware, installation of restroom grab bars and occasionally the construction of exterior ramps. Finish work is limited to repairing adjacent wall and floor finishes.
ELECTRICAL
There are no major upgrades. Work is limited to capping unused outlets, reconnecting countertop equipment and an occasional new wired outlet.
PAVEMENTS
Work consists of limited replacement of damaged asphalt and concrete pavements, parking striping, installation of non-illuminated pole signs, and the occasional construction of concrete ramps with handrails.
