NOTICE TO PROVIDERS OF PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
Pursuant to Chapter 103D-304, Hawaii Revised Statutes, the
Department of the Attorney General is seeking qualified vendors to provide software
maintenance for the Green Box Integrated Booking system.
DESCRIPTION OF
PROJECT
The Green Box system is an integrated booking system, which
allows law enforcement officers to perform direct data entry of booking
information, and receives booking information electronically from other law
enforcement booking systems. The primary
functions of the Green Box are to make booking information available for
downloading to livescan fingerprint capture units and to transfer information
to the State s central criminal history repository system CJIS-Hawaii, a pilot
message broker at the State, and law enforcement records management
systems. As such, the Green Box system
is utilized on a 24 x 7 basis.
The technical architecture of the Green Box system consists
of three components: a user browser-based client, interface programs, and a database
server.
The browser-based user client is the component
that directly interacts with users.
Users are able to enter, view and maintain Green Box information through
this interface.
The interface programs perform a number of
functions specifically for electronically receiving and transmitting
information to and from other agency systems.
The database server houses all browser client
screens, interface programs, and the database.
The client application and interfaces were developed using a
mix of Visual Basic, Active Server Pages, and the .Net framework. The database utilizes the SQL Server
relational database management system.
Consistent and accurate processing is mandated by the
urgency and significance of 24x7 access to Green Box booking information by law
enforcement agencies and the direct impact to public safety.
