Description The Iowa Workforce Development (IWD), Information Technology Bureau, located at the Iowa Workforce Development Building in Des Moines, Iowa, is seeking staff augmentation as a Lead Client Server DB2 Database Administrator within the IWD UI Tax Redesign Project Team. This position will be under the direction of IWD IT Bureau management. Primary responsibilities of this position include: Client Server DB2 Version 8 Database Administrator Must have: - Lead Client Server DB2 Database Administration experience for implementation, support, and technical guidance for Java/J2EE application deployment using DB2 relational database. Project Activities include: Researching features and proposing the acquisition and implementation time line, working with Technical Project Lead and other development staff to identify changes, prepare for changes, coordinate and review the application testing results, and assist with making a determination to execute the implementation steps. Assist applications staff to analyze and determine the best structure of UI Tax Redesign Project DB2 application databases and tables. Tune DB2 system and tables for optimal performance. Define and modify tablespaces, tables, and views to meet the requirements of the UI Tax application. Insure that all DB2 data is properly backed up and that data restoration jobs are set up and tested. Insure data integrity using DB2 security facilities. Research the capabilities of new releases of DB2 to determine implementation strategy and benefits. Diagnose any performance problems or outages on DB2 system and take corrective action. Collaboration with other IWD DBA s.
