Additional Information

The University has received a Sole Source Request for a Specialized Interface between Miami University?s DARS and Oracle/Peoplesoft?s Campus Solutions (CS) products. DARS is the new Degree Audit System; Campus Solutions is the new Student Information System. By May 2010 the University of Colorado plans to use the DARS product for degree audit and transfer credit processing and CS as the student information system. To that end, it is necessary to have an interface between the two systems in order to efficiently and effectively support processing in both systems. This request is to procure both the interface and services to customize the solution in order to support the University of Colorado?s business requirements.

The interface between DARS and CS includes two major components. The two components and major capabilities/features of each are as follows:

1. An interface from CS to DARS is required to provide student data in order to support the degree audit processing. Capabilities/features include:
? Ability to request a degree audit from DARS while logged into the CS administrative and/or faculty or student self-service systems. (The result is that the end-user is unaware of requesting an audit from another system).
? Ability to respond to a degree audit request by pulling student data from CS, translating CS values into DARS values, and inserting the results intro the DARS database for audit processing.
? Ability to open the resulting DARS degree audit within the CS administrative or self-service systems.
? Ability to allow the end-user to select how to view the audit from multiple formats including pdf, html, or via the vendor-specific DARSweb Interactive Audit.

2. An interface from DARS to CS is required to post the transfer credit evaluation processed by DARS to the CS student-specific transfer credit record. Capabilities/features include:
? Ability to post results of a DARS transfer credit evaluation to CS by pulling data from DARS, filtering out unnecessary information based on business rules, translating DARS values into CS values, and inserting the results into the CS database
? Ability to properly impact student career and term statistics in CS in order to support essential processing. For example, posting 20 hours of transfer credit from DARS for a particular student may increase their class level in CS to a junior, which in turn impacts other CS processes including financial aid, registration and pre-requisite checking.
? Ability to schedule this process according to business needs without significantly impacting systems responsiveness.

The only known System to meet these requirements is from Interface Management Services, Inc. (IMS).
Should your company carry a Specialized Interface between Miami University?s DARS and Oracle/Peoplesoft?s Campus Solutions (CS) products as described above, please submit a letter and include with your response to this Notice of Proposed Sole Source how your Interface meets each of the requirements listed above in the order they are listed. Vendors are required to provide a Point By Point Response to the Specifications/Features # 1 and # 2 with bullets as listed above as to how your Interface meets each of these requirements. Vendors are to provide documentation to certify and validate vendor specifications, along with brochures containing vendor specifications which can be evaluated by University personnel, and any other pertinent information concerning your Interface. Detailed information as to how your Interface meets each of the above Specifications/Features as well as how your Interface meets the application required as listed above is required with your response.

Please include information on your experience with integrating DARS and CS with other higher education institutions to develop an interface solution, including customizations to accommodate the particular institution?s business rules and processes. Please include three (3) References comparable to the University and the project above with contact names, telephone numbers and email addresses.

Please include information on your estimated development and implementation schedule for your interface.

The University of Colorado will be the sole judge of equivalence.

FAILURE TO RESPOND AS INSTRUCTED ABOVE WILL AUTOMATICALLY RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION.

Interested parties should read and be familiar with the specifications before responding as the above specifications must be met or exceeded with validation. Responses must be submitted by FAX to Attention: Stuart Littlefield, Senior Purchasing Agent at FAX # 303-315-2799 no later than Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 3:00 pm.
