South Coast Maintenance Synopsis The Portland District Corps of Engineers intends to award a contract for South Coast Maintenance Dredging 2008. This dredging project includes the maintenance dredging by pipeline (Hydraulic) or (Mechanical) clamshell at three locations on the Oregon South Coast; Winchester Bay, Charleston, and Port Orford. 1. Winchester Bay; East and West Boat Basins with an ocean disposal site and/or Umpqua River in-water disposal site 0.8-IW (outgoing tide only) 2. Charleston Channel has ocean disposal Site F and/or in-water disposal Site G (outgoing tide only) 3. Port Orford has an ocean disposal site. These work areas require visual monitoring of water quality. The Contractor shall be required to commence work at any time after Notice to Proceed, to prosecute the work diligently, and complete the work within 60 days of NTP. For this project, the person that will act as the SSHO is required to have a minimum of 3 years safety work with similar projects and a 30 Hour OSHA construction safety class, or equivalent, taken within the last 3 years. The SSHO may have other duties for this work that include being the Contractor on-site Project Manager and/or the on-site CQC Manager or other responsible individual.
