The National Nuclear Security Administration at Albuquerque, NM, isseeking
possible vendors for the following items:
Federal Stock Class : 1095 NAICS: 332994 Size: N/A
CLIN 0001- .45 ACP Handguns with the following characteristics:
Minimum 10 round capacity (.45).
Ease of maintenance.
Simple operator dis-assembly, cleaning, and reassembly.
OST armorers should be able to correct all likely failures with available
replacement parts.
Physical Dimensions: With sights attached and empty magazine inserted in
weapon, the following dimensions are not to be exceeded: 8.7 inches long,
5.8
inches high, and 1.6 inches wide. Weight shall not exceed 36 ounces.
Ergonomics: The Handgun must accommodate the user hands ranging from small
to
extra large. Determination will be based on width, length, grip
circumference,
location of controls, ambidextrous controls, etc.
Target Acquisition Enablers: As a minimum, Mil-Std-1913 or Picatiny rails
shall
be incorporated on the weapon to attach rail mounted accessories.
Integrated
aiming/ pointed devices are of interest and will be evaluated. Three Dot
type
tritium or equivalent night-sight.
Safety Mechanisms: As a minimum, the handgun shall have internal safety
mechanisms in place such that a loaded cartridge will not fire if the
weapon is
dropped from a height of 5 feet onto a concrete or other hard surface. The
weapon shall also have an external, manually operated safety button/ switch
operable with one hand. The weapon allows for safety carry with one round
chambered.
Reliability: The handgun shall demonstrate 2,000 Mean Rounds Between
Stoppage
(MRBS) (operator clearable/correctable stoppages), and 5000 Mean Rounds
between
Failures (MRBF) (non-operator correctable).
Service Life: The handgun shall have a minimum service life of 30,000
rounds
before major parts fail. Major parts are the slide, frame and barrel.
Weapon
must function reliably with standard military and commercial ammunition
used by
OST.
Vendors shall provide the following information with their submission:
List of available accessories and associated pricing.
Written response detailing how the proposed pistol performs against the
above
requirements.
Supporting test data from any test facility that addresses the system
performance requirements listed herein.
Manufacturers recommended maintenance schedule, parts availability and
associated pricing.
Modifications required to convert the pistol for DMC/MILES training.
Vendors shall indicate if a .45 ACP Pistol with all accessories may be
provided
for T&E; purposes at no cost or obligation to the Government. Vendors will
be
given a 30 day advance notice if a T&E; pistol is needed.
