Description
Sonic Gas Flow Calibrator Upgrade

This request for information/sources sought announcement is issued to identify potential sources and gather information on current capabilities within the market. The Air Force Metrology and Calibration Program is considering a purchase of a Sonic Gas Flow Calibrator Upgrade.
Sonic Gas Flow Calibrators (SGFC) are the Air Force's high gas flow calibration standard covering a flow range from approximately 0.01 SCFM to 250 SCFM (440 SCFM for the Air Force Primary Standards Laboratory (AFPSL)) through the use of approximately twenty-two sonic nozzles, automated and manual flow control, data acquisition and controlling hardware, and computer software. There are nine Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) SGFCs and one AFPSL SGFC. These SGFCs have been deployed since the late 1990's and the nozzles have not been calibrated since their initial calibration at the time of deployment. This acquisition will be to upgrade all of the SGFCs with new data acquisition and controlling hardware (maintaining both manual and automated flow control options) and computer software and software source code license. Data acquisition and control will most likely be required by a PXI embedded controller. Software will allow automated control and for easy calibration of various style flowmeters (e.g. rotameters, mass flowmeters) and it will make all necessary corrections for different style flowmeters, different reference temperatures and pressures, different gases, etc in a straight-forward manner (e.g. drop down selections and field entries). This acquisition will also fund calibration of each large nozzle bank up to 120 psia inlet pressure (nine nozzles at each PMEL ranging in diameter from approximately 0.05 to 0.41 inches (~1 to 250 SCFM), and ten nozzles at the AFPSL ranging in diameter from approximately 0.05 to 0.53 inches (~1 to 440 SCFM)) at a NVLAP accredited lab to approximately ?0.20% of flow reading. The remaining smaller nozzles will be calibrated at the AFPSL. All nozzle calibrations will be completed and returned to the appropriate PMEL prior to installation and training on the upgraded SGFC.
The total estimated quantity is 10 Unit(s).
