The RDECOM Acquisition intends to release a solicitation for Small Arms Protective Inserts (SAPIs) to be used in conjunction with Interceptor Outer Tactical Vests (OTVs). This will be an FMS requirement for various FMS customers under different FMS Cases. It is anticipated that the award resulting from this solicitation will be a five-year, indefinite delivery indefinite quantity firm fixed price type contract. The anticipated annual maximum number of sets is 44,000 per year. One set equals 2 indi vidual plates of the same size. In accordance with DFAR Clause 252.225-7012, products provided must be in compliance with the Berry Amendment, in that all components of the item are to be grown, reprocessed, reused, or produced in the United States. Ball istic testing of random samples will be required from an approved National Institute of Justice (NIJ) laboratory approved by the Government and the Government reserves the right to witness said testing.
