The Virginia Army National Guard is offering for sale approximately 14,729 tons of pine and 2,250 tons of hardwood on approximately 229 acres at Fort Pickett. Timber to be sold may be inspected by prospective bidders through 31 July 2008 by contacting Mr. Hylton Haynes, Forestry Supervisor, at 434-292-8428. Bid opening is 2:00 p.m. EST on Friday, 8 August 2008. Bids will be opened at USPFO conference room, Bldg. 316, Fort Pickett, Blackstone, VA 23824. Forms for use in submitting a bid are attached. Terms and conditions of sale, procedures for submitting bids and a description of the timber are attached. This sales will be sold by weight. All trees will be conveyed to the purchase via written contract. This contract contains a clause requiring the purchase to have insurance in such amounts needed to protect the seller from all liability, which might arise from the purchaser's performance of the contract. The successful bidder is required to be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (www.ccr.gov) prior to award being made. A bid security of 20% of total bid is required.
