NOTICE OF INTENT - Brand Name Justification for Symantec Software and Maintenance



The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) intends to award a purchase order for commercial items from a Federal Supply Service (FSS) schedule contractor. This order will be made under the Authority of FAR Part 11.105. The IRS is requesting maintenance for and software assurance of the Symantec perpetual licenses currently owned by the agency. The software will provide security to more than 100,000 computers and servers. IRS is divided into three commissioner-level organizations, with its main functions in four operating divisions: Large & Mid-Size Business (LMSB), Small Business / Self-Employed (SB/SE), Wage and Investment (W&I),; and Tax Exempt & Government Entities (TE/GE). The IRS also provides support for Modernization of Information Technology Services (MITS), Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA); Criminal Investigation (CI); Chief Counsel; Statistics of Income (SOI); and Appeals.
