Synopsis:
Replacement of the HC-144A Main Aircraft Battery (SAFT P/N: 40109-1)
The Coast Guard is seeking information from potential sources who can provide a maintenance free Sealed Lead Acid Aircraft Battery (SLAB) replacement for the current HC-144A aircraft s Main Battery. The replacement battery must meet the following requirements as a minimum:
1. The replacement battery must utilize the latest technology in battery design to eliminate high maintenance labor-hour costs, hazardous material and safety related concerns associated with NICAD batteries.
2. The battery must be a Form, Fit and Function replacement for the current SAFT battery P/N 40109-1 and require no aircraft modification for installation.
3. The replacement battery must consist of sealed, valve regulated, field replaceable monoblock cells appropriately wired and rated at 24 volt, 37 ampere hours. The cells shall be enclosed in a battery case equipped with vent tubes and connectors.
4. Battery case construction and dimensions must be similar to SAFT Battery, P/N 40109-1, to facilitate installation in the HC-144A Aircraft.
5. The battery must be equipped with two connectors that mate to aircraft s main terminal connector P/N MS25182-2, and a dummy over temperature connector which mates to the current aircraft connector P/N MS24266R10B5SN.
6. Battery cells must be FAA approved for aircraft use.
Organizations having the required expertise, capabilities and an acceptable quality system are invited to submit complete information packages. The information contained therein shall pertain to this announcement only. The Government does not intend to pay for the information received.

b. Warranty period
3. Supportability
4. Planning Estimate to include quantity discount breaks
a. Battery and Mounting Tray cost
b. Replacement cell cost
c. Detailed Maintenance Procedures
