Seeking sources to provide expert helicopter mountain flying instruction.

A minimum of 4 days of dedicated classroom instruction specific to mountain training utilizing purpose built training aids and mountain flying manuals. Courses must include: Mountain Geography; Mountain Winds and Weather; Mountain Illusions; Contour Crawl; Mountain & Circling Reconnaissance; Mountain approaches, landings & takeoffs; High Altitude operations & helo performance; Shoulders, ledges, ridges, crowns & saddles; Glaciers, snowfields, pinnacles, & cirques; High Altitude confined areas & canyons.


Flying Training: Minimum of 20 hours mountain training. Flying training must include: Mountain Geography; Mountain Winds and Weather; Mountain Illusions; Contour Crawl; Mountain & Circling Reconnaissance; Mountain approaches, landings & takeoffs; High Altitude operations & helo performance; Shoulders, ledges, ridges, crowns & saddles; Glaciers, snowfields, pinnacles, & cirques; High Altitude confined areas & canyons.


Qualifications: Instructor pilots must have a minimum of 3000 hrs of helicopter mountain flying experience and 300 hours as a helicopter mountain flying instructor.


Aircraft: Must utilize a turbine powered aircraft with fully articulated rotorhead.


Previous Experience: Experience conducting training for U.S. Army special operations units and mountain flying schools, U.S. Navy helicopter units and mountain flying schools, U.S. Coast Guard, USDA Forest service, and other helicopter pilots around the world is preferred.


Training Area: Landing zones must include pinnacles, shoulders, ledges, alpine meadows, cirques, saddles, canyons, dead end valleys, underwire platforms, log platforms, ridges, crowns and year round glaciers and snowfields from base operations up to an altitude of 8,500 feet above sea level.


Safety: Operations must include flight following and have an excellent safety record with Helicopter Association International recognition highly desired. Aircraft survival equipment must meet FAA, or equivalent, standards and provide minimum protection to -20 degrees Celsius.
