| | Request for Bids The City of Bay City has absolutely reserved the right and prerogative to reject any or all bids as well as to waive any irregularities and informalities. The award of the contract, if it is awarded, will be to a responsible and responsive Bidder whom the City Commission, in its sole discretion and judgment, determines will be in the best interest of the City of Bay City, and which will not exceed the funds available for the project. REPLACEMENT OF WET WELL STAIRWAY WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT Sealed proposals for the replacement of the wet well stairway will be received by the City of Bay City at City Hall, Room 202, Bay City, Michigan 48708 until 2:00 p.m., Local Time on Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at which time and place all bids will be publicly opened and read. Bidders shall review and comply with the Instructions to Bidders, which are incorporated by reference, and carefully review all Contract Documents, as defined in the Instructions to Bidders. Bids submitted after the exact time specified for, receipt will not be considered. The Contract will consist of the following principal items of work and appurtenances as specified herein and shown on the Contract Drawings. Description of Work Maintenance work covered by the Specifications includes the removal and replacement of existing items installed in the Wet Well of the Bay City Wastewater Treatment Plant Pump Station. Items to be removed include the following: - Metal stairways
- Metal handrails
- Metal grating platforms and associated structural framing
- All supporting and related hardware, fittings, accessories, and appurtenances
Removed items are to be replaced with Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic products. This specification covers the fabrication, supply, and installation of these products, complete with all accessories and incidentals necessary to produce a complete, operable, and serviceable installation. Mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held at the Wastewater Treatment Plant, 2905 N. Water Street, Bay City, MI on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. local time in the conference room. All potential bidders must have a representative at this meeting. Proposals submitted by Contractors without a representative at this meeting will be rejected. Each bid proposal shall be submitted on the proposal forms provided and shall be accompanied by a certified check, cashier's check or bid bond, executed by the bidder and Surety Company, payable to the City of Bay City in the amount of Five Percent (5%) of the accompanying bid. Proposal Guarantee shall provide assurance that the bidder will, upon acceptance of the bid, execute the necessary Contract with the City of Bay City. No bid may be withdrawn after scheduled closing time for receiving bids for at least sixty (60) days. Attention is called to the fact that not less than the minimum salaries and wages as set forth in the contract documents must be paid on this project, and the contractor must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of their race, color, religion, sex or national origin. The City of Bay City reserves the right to reject all bids and to waive irregularities in bidding. |
