Description
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) intends to negotiate solely with the National Academy of Sciences, located at 2101 Constitution Ave. NW Washington DC 20418-0006, to assist in its mission to protect the U.S. food supply by establishing a standing committee, the Committee for the Review of FSIS?s Use of Public Health Data to Improve Agency Food Safety Programs. The purpose of the committee is to respond to requests for advice and assistance from FSIS associated with efforts to develop improved inspection, verification, and surveillance systems. The National Academy of Science is the only source which can provide the required service. This procurement will be conducted under the authority of FAR 6.302.5 Authorized or Required by Statue. Authority: 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(5). It is anticipated that a contract with a base year and two (2) option years will be awarded. This is not a request for quotations or an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation. Request for copies of this solicitation will not be honored or acknowledged. The Government does not intend to pay for information received. All interested parties must respond within ten (10) calendar days from the date of this notice. Written responses must provide clear and concise documentation indicating your firms capability to provide the services described above. Verbal responses are not acceptable and will not be considered. When responding to this announcement, respondents should refer to Announcement FSIS-07-B-08. If after March 31, 2008, no viable responses have been received in response to this announcement, USDA/FSIS shall negotiate solely with the National Academy of Sciences.
