The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Augusta, GA, VISN 7 contemplates negotiation of sole source procurement due to the specific nature of the requirement. Research Veterinary Medicine is a specialized field, and Dr. Harold E. Farris, 414 Spring St., Washington, GA 30673-0000 has been providing Consultant services as a Veterinarian Medical Officer for VA research animals, for the Research & Development Office, VA Medical Center, Augusta, GA 30904 since 2006. The period of performance for this procurement will be 1 October 2008 through 30 September 2009, with four (4) one year option periods. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code for this procurement is 541711 with a size standard of 500 employees. Justification for this sole source procurement is in accordance with FAR 6.302-3(2)(ii) Industrial mobilization; engineering, development, or research capability; or expert services This Notice of Intent is NOT a request for competitive proposals. No solicitation documents will be issued. Firms that believe they can meet the VA's requirements must submit proof to the Contracting Officer no later than August 11, 2008 at 4:00 P.M. local time. All information shall be furnished at no cost or obligation to the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to compete this procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
