Provide healthcare resources in accordance with Public Law 104-262 and 38 U.S.C. 8153. Contractor agrees to provide a Hospitalist Physician board certified in Internal Medicine or Family Practice, at the VA Medical Center, 4815 N. Assembly St, Spokane WA. 99205. Services shall cover the period June 1, 2008 through May 31, 2009. Individual shall be Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Practice. Physician shall start no later than June 1, 2008.
The contract hospitalist(s) shall be board certified in either Internal Medicine or Family Practice and have recent (within the past 2 years) experience performing hospitalist duties. During day shifts, Monday through Friday, a total of 5 hospitalists shall be needed in order (working with our staff) equitably cover the in-patient medical service, caring for patients with a variety of chronic and acute conditions. The Spokane VAMC has a total capacity of 30 medicine/surgical beds, including 4 ICU beds, 16 monitored beds, and 10 general medical beds. The working hours are from 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.

During night shifts, Monday through Friday, a total of 1 hospitlaist (working with our staff) equitably cover the in-patient medical service, caring for patients with a variety of chronic and acute conditions. Night in-patient urgencies/emergencies are covered by one in-house hospitalist. The working hours are from 4:00 PM - 8:00 AM.

The contract hospitalist will be assigned rotating weekends and holidays shifts (to be scheduled) during the contract performance period. The contract hospitalist will be off the one day prior to the weekend shift, and will be off one day, during the week following weekend and/or holiday shift assignment. Day shift working hours are from 8:00 AM-4:30 PM. Night in-patient urgencies/emergencies are covered by one in-house hospitalist. The working hours are from 4:00 PM - 8:00 AM.

The contract hospitalist must be comfortable with management of ICU patients, including ventilator management. We do not have a cath lab and do not perform thoracic surgery. Patients who require a level of care higher than this facility is able to provide are promptly transferred either to the downtown hospitals (located approximately 5 miles South of this facility) or, if stable, to the tertiary VA facilities in Seattle, WA or Portland, OR.

Price is an all-inclusive rate of per diem, travel, and price/cost.

If the Offeror is submitting more than one physician to cover the terms and conditions of this contract, you shall submit a schedule along with your quote indicating the time frames that each physician will be scheduled to work.

Providers will need to be scheduled for orientation/training prior to the start of their weekday shift, at the government's expense.
