The contractor shall remap known black-tailed prairie dog colonies on the Little Missouri National Grasslands and Grand River National Grasslands, using Global Positioning System technology, and write a final report as requested in Report Requirements. Field work is to begin by June 1, 2008 and finish by October 1, 2008; final report is due December 31, 2008.
LOCATION This project is field work with various locations. Approximately 122 colonies covering approximately 4,830 acres (NFS land only). Little Missouri National Grasslands McKenzie, Golden Valley, Billings, and Slope Counties in North Dakota. Approximately 54 colonies covering approximately 2,344 acres (NFS land only). Grand River National GrasslandPerkins and Corson Counties in South Dakota.
CONTRACTOR QUALIFICATIONS The offeror shall submit with his/her offer a statement of his/her professional qualifications and the qualifications of any other person(s) employed to accomplish the Statement of Work. The offeror's statement should include information concerning appropriate academic degrees and training and a listing of field mapping experience. The following criteria may be used for contractor selection. M.S. or Ph.D. in zoology, biology, or related field experience. 5 or more years of experience related to field mapping work.One or more field seasons of experience in mapping prairie dogs.

Based on past mapping contracts as well as the rarity of the situations where alternate access routes are unavailable, the FS does not anticipate this as a problem.
