Sealed bids will be received by the Capital Region Airport Commission, Procurement Department until 2:00 PM local time, Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at which time the bids will be publicly opened and read aloud in the Commission s Conference Room, Ivor Massey Administration Building at 5707 Huntsman Road, Richmond International Airport, Virginia 23250, for: PAVEMENT SENSOR REPLACEMENT The project will replace existing airside pavement sensors and RPUs with new equipment, using the airport s existing WiFi communication system and weather monitoring system software. In addition, non-intrusive pavement sensors will be added to an access road bridge and parking garage ramps on the landside of the airport. Work involves removal/demolition of existing equipment and foundations, and furnishing and installing new equipment, including but not limited to, pavement surface sensors, RPUs and power service connections. A Pre-Bid Conference will be held at 10:00 AM local time, June 24, 2008 in the Business Center small conference room, Airport Terminal Building, 1 Richard E. Byrd Terminal Drive. Bonding and licensing are required in accordance with the Virginia Public Procurement Act. A local business license is required prior to award. Bid documents may be purchased from Chiang Patel & Yerby, 214-638-0500 for a non-refundable deposit of $50.00 for each set of full-sized plans and specifications. The installation of the door rail system shall be performed by a specialty contractor who is fully experienced, reputable and qualified in assembling and installing door rail systems. The contractor shall have a minimum of five (5) years experience installing and/or maintaining hangar doors and rail systems. Should the specialty contractor be an organization other than the bidder, the bidder must furnish to Commission, as described in Invitation For Bids, Section VII, Supplemental Terms and Conditions, Subcontractors, the qualifications and experience record of the proposed specialty contractor for review and approval. The specialty contractor s qualifications and experience record will be reviewed during the bid evaluation period. The streetscape project includes nearly 2 miles of landscape planting and irrigation improvements along Airport Drive from Williamsburg Road to Charles City Road. Landscape improvements will include new plantings at existing main entrance sign area, street trees and turf along divided roadway with lower plantings and turf in the medians, all irrigated. The project area includes portions of Airport Drive currently under construction and scheduled for completion August 2008. A portion of the new roadway will widen to three lanes having a central raised through lane creating approximately 30,000 sf. of sloped median area to be planted with trees, shrubs and turf, all irrigated. Landscape plantings throughout will include the installation of sod, annual and perennial flowers, shrubs and trees. Irrigation improvements will include connection to an existing waterline and installation of an underground irrigation system with pop up sprinkler heads, controller and other appurtenances. System components will include variable Frequency Booster pumps, a computer central control and satellite system, and 4" gasket PVC main.
