Synopsis:

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Rocky Mountain Laboratories (RML), Hamilton, MT, has a requirement for the operation of the Glassware Unit at RML. Contractor will furnish all necessary supervision and labor to operate and maintain the Glassware Unit at RML, Hamilton, MT. The glassware department is a fully equipped unit containing adequate counters, sinks, automatic washing machines, autoclaves and drying ovens. All utilities, equipment, and supplies needed to perform the tasks encompassed by this contract will be supplied by the Government. The work includes all management, supervision and labor necessary to receive soiled laboratory glassware and plastic ware from 5 research laboratories, segregating, cleaning, processing and returning the cleaned items to designated pickup shelves or to stock shelves. Items cleaned or processed by the unit are a broad variety of laboratory glassware, plastic ware and instruments, some of which are small and/or very delicate and require special handling. A sampling of the items is as follows: bottles, jars, aspirator jugs, pipettes, tubes, caps, Petri dishes, flasks, beakers, volumetric, graduated cylinders, magnetic stirring bars, syringes, surgical instruments, etc., and thus there is considerable hand work involved. Great care must be exercised by all staff in the glassware unit to be very thorough and conscientious in performing their work to exaction standards. Failure to do so could result in erroneous or inconsistent results in the experiments performed in the laboratories. A fixed price contract for these services is contemplated. NIAID intends to award a one year contract beginning on November 1, 2008 with the option for four additional contract years.
