Description
The Forest Service is seeking information on sources for nursery seeder per specifications.

The following equipment will be used to plant various forb & grass seeds in previously cultivated nursery beds.

1) The seeder shall be designed to attach to a 3-point category 1 or 2 tractor hitch.

2) Seeder shall have multiple, staggered rows capable of being configured to seed a combination of 2,4,6,8,10 or 12 rows.

3) Row spacing should be variable & simple to adjust on a 68-72? wide toolbar.

4) The seed metering systems should be electronic and powered by a standard 12 volt DC battery. The system should be capable of delivering seed from the size of a pea (10 seeds per gram) to very small seed such as yarrow (4500 seeds per gram). Ideally the seed should be modifiable to delivery seed as small as 10,000 seeds per gram.

5) Seed metering systems should be able to distribute small volumes of seed and have removable hoppers (1-2Gallon) to allow easy removal and clan-up of unused seed. Each hopper should be able to feed up to 6 seed tubes.

6) The seed metering systems should be capable of delivering raw, coated or pelleted seed without damaging it. Calibration should be quick, easy, and accurate.

7) The seed metering system should be capable of maintaining a constant seeding rate regardless of tractor speed which can vary from ? - 4 miles per hour. Each hopper shall be controlled separately for optimal speed control and accuracy. Ideally the control should be based off of GPS speed sensing.

8) Seeder components should be constructed of stainless steel and plastic to eliminate corrosion.

9) The seeder needs to be small, compact, and easy to ship from one location to another.

10) The seeder should ride on abrasive resistant plastic skids and not wheeled to eliminate mud build-up in wet conditions, which leads to inaccurate seeding depth. The skids should help level the seed bed and cover seeded rows.

11) Seeding depth should be easily adjustable by moving the toolbar and not each individual seed opener.

12) Seed openers should be constructed of hardened stainless to resist wear. They should be able to form a uniform channel so the seed is placed at an accurate depth. The leading edge of the opener should be replaceable.
