| Opportunity Summary |
The Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF and Agency) is preparing to architect and align the
Agency's critical business functions as part of an Agency-wide approach to business process
improvement. At the highest level, this Agency-wide approach is known as the "Forestry
Business Improvement Initiative", or "FBII".
ODF intends to select a contractor to research and document selected ODF workflow
processes, in order to provide the Agency with the foundation required for the larger FBII
effort, as further described in this document. The vision for the work includes: 1)
Discovering and documenting the business processes of the Agency; (2) Dividing high level
business processes into manageable grouping or increments; 3) Measuring their value in
assisting the Agency to meet its goals and objectives, including analysis of current gaps
or weaknesses compared to best practices; and 4) Measuring the potential business value
that can be achieved by improving the business processes.
Once these activities are successfully completed, it is anticipated that a prioritized list
of business process improvement projects will be generated. The listing will prioritize
the projects based on (i) the importance of the business processes to the Agency's critical
success factors, (ii) the potential for business benefits as a result of the business
process improvement, (iii) the project's potential to contribute to Agency or program risk
management, and (iv) the relationship of the project to other current or planned external
systems or processes.
There is a voluntary Pre-proposal conference scheduled at 9:00 AM on January 28, 2008 at
the Oregone Department of Forestry, 2600 State Street, Salem, OR 97310.
