INVITATION FOR PROPOSALS

THE MUNICIPALITY OF THE DISTRICT OF GUYSBOROUGH
SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION OF (1) ONE NEW BREATHING AIR COMPRESSOR (REPLACE EXISTING) TO MEET OR EXCEED BREATHING AIR QUALITY AND REQUIREMENTS FOR CSA CAN3-Z180.1-00 AND NFPA 1989

Proposal documents and specifications are available from the Municipal Office,
33 Pleasant Street, Guysborough , N.S.

Sealed proposals plainly marked " Breathing Air Compressor Proposal" will be received at the office of the Municipality of the District of Guysborough, 33 Pleasant Street, Guysborough. until 2:00 P.M., June 25, 2008.
Opening 2:05 P.M., June 25, 2008 at same location

Proposals which are considered to be informal, unbalanced or not in accordance with any aspect of the Proposal Document may be rejected. The Municipality of the District of Guysborough reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, not necessarily accept the lowest proposal or to accept any which it may consider to be in the best interest of the Municipality based on but not limited to construction, suitability, and price. The Municipality also reserves the right to waive formality, informality or technicality in any proposal.

Proposal Specifications for Breathing Air Compressor


Features based on Jordair "B"Series Compressor IK100 II-XB or IK120 II-xB. Please provide pricing on the supply and install of both units or acceptable alternative and the Municipality of the District of Guysborough will choose the most suitable unit.

Integrated hour meter records the compressor system operating hours.
The motor operates via a magnetic starter with thermal overload protection.
An "Auto-Off-Manual" three-position selection switch selects the type of operation. AUTO must be set to 4500 PSI shutoff.
Final pressure switch for pressure actuated automatic start and shutdown.
A guage panel with 2.5" dual scale gauges monitor all stages of compression, final pressure, and oil pressure.
A high temperature sensor and audible alarm with a fault indicator light and shutdown.
A low oil pressure switch and audible alarm with a fault indicator light and shutdown.
CRN certified Automatic Condensate Drain System to drain accumulating compression liquids during operation and at shut down.
Condensate drain collection tank to contain the compression liquids for disposal.
Safety relief valves after each stage of compression and the final oil/moisture separator.
The compressor is provided with a forced-feed lubrication system. A low speed gear pump supplies the oil pressure at approximately 75 PSIG.
Direct flow Air Blaster Fan Cooling System supplies cooling air for the compressor crankcase, cylinders, valve heads, inter-coolers and final after-cooler providing optimum compressor block cooling protection and extended filter life.
CRN certified check valve after the final separator stops back flow through the filter.
CRN certified pressure maintaining valve set at 2,800 PSI to maintain pressure in the filter and optimize the filter life.
Vertical frame with independent rubber anti-vibration mounting of the compressor/motor
ASME A106 steel material is used in purifiers and nickel plating ensures lifetime safety.
Compresser must be CSA certified and must have BC Boiler and Pressure Vessels Contractor License.
Ability to Service machine on a semi-annual basis and on-site within 24 hours for emergency repairs.

IK100 II-xB shall be 3 stage, 5.8 SCFM, 5 Horsepower 220 motor, 1270 RPM, to reach a pressure of 5000 PSI

IK 120 II-xB shall be 3 stage, 9.3 SCFM, 7.5 Horsepower 220 motor, 1470 RPM, to reach a pressure of 5000 PSI
