Synopsis:

THE ABOVE REFERENCED NOTICE IS HEREBY AMENDED TO CHANGE THE ANTICIPATED RELEASE DATE OF THE RFQ AS FOLLOWS: FROM: MAY 16, 2008; TO: MAY 30, 2008. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Storeroom and Warehouse, located on the NIST Campus in Gaithersburg, MD, has a requirement to establish Blanket Purchase Agreements (BPAs) to supply the Storeroom with metal products on an as-needed basis.

The NIST Storeroom and Warehouse is an 11,500 square foot facility, with a 2,700 square foot sales floor, located in Building 301 on the NIST Campus in Gaithersburg, MD. The Storeroom is a part of the NIST Administrative Services Division, Logistics Storeroom Section. Their mission is to service customers better than anyone else could serve them and provide customers the highest quality, variety and convenience. The Storeroom also maintains an on-line catalog to provide NIST personnel with current information on items available.

The commodities being procured are metals and metal products. This acquisition will create approximately two (2) Blanket Purchase Agreements (BPAs). The period of performance shall be five (5) years from the date of award.

Examples of the required commodities include, but are not limited to: aluminum sheet, aluminum rod, aluminum bars & tubes, copper rods, brass tubing, Bakelite rods, plexiglass sheets, stainless steel bars and tubing, steel bars, tubing and sheets. Other commodities may be sought out via future notices. This notice is not seeking vendors to facilitate the operation of the storeroom, but, to provide metals to stock the storeroom on an as-needed basis.

Delivery terms shall be FOB DESTINATION.

Metals and metal products are classified as commercial items in accordance with FAR Part 12, shall be procured using simplified acquisition procedures under the authority of FAR Part 13.5 Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. Full and open competition shall be utilized.

The associated North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code for this procurement is 423510-Metal Service Centers and other Metal Merchant Wholesalers, with a small business size standard of 100 employees.

The competitive Request for Quotation (RFQ), RFQ amendments, and all questions and answers related to this procurement will be made available via the Internet at http://www.fedbizopps.gov/ under RFQ number SB1341-08-RQ-0212.

THE RFQ IS ANTICIPATED FOR RELEASE TO THE VENDOR COMMUNITY ON OR ABOUT APRIL 18, 2008, AND WILL ONLY BE AVAILABLE VIA THE INTERNET AT THE ABOVE WEB SITE.

POTENTIAL OFFERORS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ACCESSING THE WEB SITE.

Interested parties must respond to the RFQ in order to be considered for award of any resultant BPA.
