The USDA, Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Eastern Regional Research Center (ERRC), Microbial Food Safety (MFS), intends to negotiate solely with Koch Equipment LLC, in Kansas City, MO to purchase one each of 1) Koch/Gunther Injectamatic Part No. 333125-Model PI-21 Automatic Pickle Injector (injects bone-in or boneless product), the equipment includes twenty-one spring loaded stainless steel needles for bone-in or boneless product; Needle head operates at 42 strokes per minute, 4mm diameter needles standard 3.0mm available for fish, bacon or poultry applications; Variable pump percentages. Handy control adjusts pump pressure to desired level (0 to 45 p.s.i.) (minimum level approximately 8%); Consistent pump percentages from batch-to-batch using a triple filter system consisting of canister, screen and bag-type filters to keep needles clear; Easily removable 280mm (11 in) wide, high-impact, interlocking polyethylene conveyor with intermittent movement in conjunction with needle head operation; USDA acceptance with easy cleaning and maintenance features; 8.6-in maximum product clearance. Dimensions: 58-in. long x 22-in. wide x 76-in high Electrical: 230 volt, 60 Hertz, 3 phase (9.6 amps); 2) Steaker Knife Tenderizer Part No. 333218; 3) Deluxe stainless steel positive displacement pump Part No 333135; 4) Stainless steel brine truck w/ drain and plug Part No. 014988; 5) Product Short-Stop Inserts Into Injector Part No. 330006. This equipment is needed to deliver enough injection and brine solution per unit of meat to perform experiments to determine the transfer of food borne pathogens into beef subprimals and their subsequent dispersion throughout the meat as the brine is injected. This study will be vital in providing data for a collaborative risk assessment that we will be conducting with the USDA-Food Safety and Inspection Service to determine the hazards that consumers would face if they ate steaks cut from these subprimals. Koch Equipment is the sole manufacturer of a pilot-scale size needle injector that is large enough and fast enough (42 strokes per minute) to deliver enough injection and brine solution per unit of meat to perform experiments to determine the transfer of food borne pathogens into beef subprimals. Companies with the demonstrated capabilities of providing this instrument must submit a descriptive statement, including descriptive literature, specifically addressing the equipment s components and availability. The NAICS is 333993. The statement and literature must be submitted to the Contracting Office Address within 10 days of publication of this notice. This is not a request for proposal. NO SOLICITATION IS AVAILABLE.
