| CALL FOR BIDS CITY OF MERCER ISLAND, MERCER ISLAND, WASHINGTON | Date of Bid Opening: Friday, April 18th, 2008 | Time: 1:30 p.m. | Sealed bids for the Lakeview Highlands Subbasin 29, Watercourse Stabilization Project will be received by the City of Mercer Island at the office of the City Engineer, 9611 SE 36th St., Mercer Island, Washington 98040 until 1:30 p.m. local time on Friday, April 18th, 2008 and will then and there be opened and publicly read. Bids received later than 1:30 p.m. on April 18th will not be considered. Work contemplated to be performed under this contract includes furnishing all labor, equipment, and materials necessary for the construction of the Project as follows: Stabilize and restore approximately 670 feet of watercourse that has experienced channel down cutting and erosion. Work consists of minor channel excavation, installation of an energy dissipater, quarry spalls in the watercourse for construction access, watercourse reconstruction with streambed material, woody debris and boulders, installation of rock and log weirs and replanting of disturbed banks and slopes with native plants. A non mandatory on-site pre-bid meeting is scheduled for Friday, April 11th, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. by the roadside of the 6250 block of West Mercer Way. Attendees should legally park their vehicles on residential side streets. Traffic safety vest and waterproof footwear is advised. A single contract will be awarded to the responsible bidder submitting the lowest bid, taking into account the bidder s qualifications and construction schedule. Each bidder, by submission of the proposal, acknowledges and understands the rights reserved by the Owner in awarding the contract and the Owner s right to modify the size of the project. The bidder agrees that, if awarded the contract, in-stream work shall be performed between June 16, 2008 and September 30, 2008, and all remaining work shall be completed by October 31, 2008. The City of Mercer Island reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive irregularities and informalities in the bidding process. No bidder may withdraw their bid for a period of sixty (60) days after the date and time set for the opening thereof. Each bid proposal shall be accompanied by a bid proposal deposit in the form of cash, certified check, cashier s check or surety bond in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the amount of such bid proposal. Should the successful bidder fail to enter into a contract and furnish a satisfactory performance bond within the time stated in the Specifications, the bid proposal deposit shall be forfeited to the City of Mercer Island. Plans, specifications, contract documents and a plan-holders list may be obtained from the City of Mercer Island, 9611 SE 36th Street, Mercer Island upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Thirty-five Dollars ($35.00) per set.
