ADVERTISEMENT FOR EXECUTIVE ARCHITECT
UCLA requests a written response to this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the purpose of selecting an Executive Architect for the Lake Arrowhead Conference Center New Meeting Facility (UCLA Project #941017.01). This RFQ is for full design services; however, the University reserves the right to defer negotiations concerning services other than pre-design studies until the completion of the pre-design phase. Final selection and appointment of the Executive Architect is contingent upon approval by the University of California Office of the President and the Universitys decision to proceed with the project with a design-bid-build delivery method.
The project is anticipated to involve design and construction of a new freestanding building for a meeting facility of approximately 6,000 GSF which will include a large meeting/dining room, warming/staging kitchen, pre-function area and related service. The project is intended to accommodate approximately 320 guests for a meeting or up to 200 seats for dining. The facility is intended to augment the existing Main Lodge Building and will be designed to fit in as part of the strong context of the Conference Center. The project is anticipated to have an estimated construction cost of approximately $5,000,000. Pre-design studies are intended to validate initial program requirements, site constraints and project cost to determine the Universitys desired project configuration.
The project would be designed to achieve a minimum UC-equivalent LEED NC Certified rating. The project is subject to review and approval by the UC Board of Regents in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
The complete request for qualifications (RFQ) packet will be available at www.capital.ucla.edu/rfq.html. The RFQ packet may also be obtained by submitting a request via facsimile (fax number 310- 206-8392; attn: Carol Esser) starting, Thursday, June 12, 2008, and authorizing use of the firm's Federal Express account for return of the packet. Responses to the RFQ are due by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2008. A short list will be determined by a screening committee; further steps in the selection process will be at the discretion of the selection committee.
Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons, regardless of race, religion, sex, color, ethnicity, and national origin have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University.
