You are invited to review and respond to this Request for Proposal (RFP), entitled San Diego River Conservancy: DFG Invasives Control Project.
The San Diego River Conservancy proposes to control over 14.2 acres of invasive non-native plants and re-vegetate with natives on DFG and adjacent properties at or near the San Diego River in Mission Valley. These invasive non-native plants are significantly impacting habitat quality and present fire and flood danger. Arundo donax is by far the most prevalent species at 13.7 acres, and its monotypic dense growth is responsible for most of the degradation on site.
This project will be carried out over three years beginning in the fall of 2008; work on this project must occur between September 15 and March 15 or the date approved by the wildlife agencies. The site must have >85% reduction in Arundo cane density per acre. All work involving the use of mechanical equipment (mowers, chain saws and sprayers) will occur to avoid impacts to wildlife.
