Notice
is hereby given that the State of Hawaii, Department of Land and Natural
Resources, Division of Forestry and Wildlife is accepting applications for year
2007-2008 Kaulunani Urban Forestry Grants.
Kaulunani provides financial assistance on a dollar (State) for dollar
(private) match to develop projects designed to enhance the health and beauty
of Hawaii s
urban forests. Four grant categories are
being offered: 1) tree planting and demonstration; 2) educational and
information; 3) tree care and technical assistance; and 4) Arbor Day
activities. Awards generally range from
$500 to $10,000. Exceptional proposals
may be considered for funding over $10,000.
All projects are given on a cost-share basis to encourage local
investment in urban forest landscapes that will benefit the public. Deadlines for receiving applications are
August 15, 2007; November 15, 2007, February 15, 2008; and May 15, 2008. Interested persons can obtain grant
