HERRESHOFF MARINE MUSEUM/ AMERICA'S CUP HALL OF FAME 1 BURNSIDE STREET BRISTOL, RHODE ISLAND NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS Sealed bids for the construction of the Museum Roof will be received by Herreshoff Marine Museum located at One Burnside St., Bristol, RI, until 4 p.m., Tuesday, August 25, 2008, after which time they will be publicly opened and read in the Herreshoff Marine Museum Board Room. DESCRIPTION: R.I. Federal Aid Project No. STP-HP 1318 is for rehabilitation of the Museum Roof at the Herreshoff Marine Museum/America's Cup Hall of Fame in the Town of Bristol, County of Bristol, Rhode Island. Work shall include, but is not limited to, the removal and replacement of the roof system and masonry repair as defined in the project manual for roof replacement under scope of work Part 1, Section 1.4. The established goal is zero (0%) percent of the contract bid price to contractors, subcontractors, and/or suppliers that qualify as Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE's). However, bidders are notified that in any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement, DBE's will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and that they will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, national origin or sex in consideration for an award. Copies of the Contract Documents may be obtained by depositing a check made payable to the Herreshoff Marine Museum in the amount of Fifty Dollars ($50) for each set so obtained. The deposit amount will be returned provided the Contract Documents and Plans are returned in good condition within fifteen (15) days after the bid opening. Plans, specifications and proposals for the above project may be examined at the offices of the Herreshoff Marine Museum every weekday except holidays between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Prospective bidders are hereby notified that there will be a non-mandatory Pre-Bid Conference at the (Herreshoff Marine Museum/ America's Cup Hall of Fame, One Burnside St, Sidney DeWolf Herreshoff Room) on (August 12, 2008) at 4:00 p.m. All bidders are required to inform themselves fully of the conditions relating to the construction and labor under which the work will be or is now being performed and the contractor shall employ, as far as possible, such methods and means in carrying out this work as will not cause interruption or interference with any other contractor. NOTE: A bid bond payable to the Herreshoff Marine Museum in the amount of 5% of the total or gross sum of the bid must be furnished by each bidder. The Proposal Guaranty will be furnished by surety companies authorized/licensed to do business in the State of Rhode Island. All surety companies must be listed with the Department of the Treasury, Fiscal Services, Circular 570 (Latest Revision published by the Federal Register). The Museum reserves the right to retain the surety of all bidders until the successful bidder enters into the Contract or until such time as the award or cancellation of the Contract is announced at which point Sureties will be returned to all bidders. At the time of the execution of the contract, the successful bidder shall furnish a Contract Bond in a sum equal to the full amount of the contract. The contract bond shall guarantee the following: complete performance of the Contract; full payment for all materials and equipment; and full payment of all wages and labor. The Bond submitted to the Herreshoff Marine Museum shall be provided by surety both acceptable to the museum and licensed and authorized to conduct business in the State of Rhode Island. All surety companies must be listed with the Department of the Treasury, Fiscal Services, Circular 570 (Latest Revision published by The Federal Register). The Museum reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive technicalities or to advertise for new bids.
